Supporting Awareness in Shared Workspaces Using Relevance- Dependent Event Notifications

چکیده

A shared workspace is a groupware system which allows multiple users to access objects contained in it. The system needs to display notifications about the activities of co-workers to each user if they are relevant for his/her work. This paper suggests a concept to model events in a shared workspace. Based on that, a mechanism for specifying the relevance of event notifications is proposed and a filtering mechanism is introduced. Several presentation techniques are described which are capable of presenting event notifications at different relevance levels. Finally, a prototype implementing part of the model is presented, and some critical remarks regarding the extensibility of the system LinkWorks are made.

Supporting Cooperating Teams by Working ‘within’ Shared Activity Time Lines

In this paper, we describe the interaction design and implementation of co-Laevo: an activity-centric desktop computing system supporting task coordination within cooperating teams. Coordination is supported by having all team members orchestrate their dependent tasks on a shared activity time line. Each task (or activity) is associated with a personal dedicated workspace within which related r...

Collaboration Support for Activity Management in a Personal Cloud Environment

This paper describes a framework supporting the development of open collaboration environments which integrate heterogeneous business services. The framework facilitates the user cooperation in the execution of shared activities by offering a workspace awareness support which abstracts from the business services employed to operate. Activity Awareness: Framework for sharing knowledge of people, projects, and places

In this paper we describe the concept of activity awareness, which gives workers indications of what is happening and what has happened recently in collaborative activities. Result Sharing Among Agents Using Reactive Rules

This paper critically analyse the use of active databases as an enabling technology for result sharing as defined in the DAI literature. In particular, we demostrate how ECA (Event-Condition-Action) rules can be used for supporting result shared cooperation. Further, we demonstrate how composite events as defined within active databases can help a problem solving agent to precisely specify when...

Augmenting Shared Workspaces with Unmediated Gestures for Mobile Remote

Providing a shared visual space and supporting remote hand gestures are two key components in developing systems for remote collaborative physical tasks. In our effort of developing systems to support mobile remote maintenance in the mining field, we aim to achieve these two objectives by augmenting the shared space with unmediated hand gestures. A series of systems have been developed and a nu...
